A scientific seminar dedicated to the 100th anniversary of academician Zarifa Aliyeva was held at the academician Abdulla Garayev Institute of Physiology.
The seminar was opened by the General Director of the Institute, Doctor of Biology, Professor Ulduz Hashimova, who introduced the audience to the life and scientific activities of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva. Professor U. Hashimova noted that Zarifa Aliyeva was one of the first in the world authors of unique studies on the study, prevention, and treatment of eye diseases associated with professional activities.
Further, in continuation of the speeches dedicated to the memory of the outstanding ophthalmologist, scientific speeches were made about research carried out in the field of physiology and pathology of vision in the laboratories of the Institute, including the laboratories “Physiology of vision and neurodegenerative processes”, “Molecular bases of integrative activity”, and “Pharmacology of biologically active substances”.
In conclusion, there were speeches about the memories of academician Zarifa Aliyeva. It was voiced that the scientific ideas of Zarifa Aliyeva increased in relevance over time, and the school created by the scientist for the benefit of public health continues its activities.
In addition to the staff of the Institute, doctoral students, undergraduates, and students of the Faculty of Biology of Baku State University took part in the event.
